Inspiration from Scotland

The first thing I remember about Scotland isn't a landmark or a landscape—it's the feeling of being welcomed. Surrounded by rolling hills brushed with the softest greens and heather tones, I heard one simple word repeated again and again by the people I met: love.

"Hello, love."

"Do you need directions, love?"

"What can I get you, love?"

That small expression of kindness stayed with me long after I returned home and has become woven into the way I paint. For me, Scotland is more than a beautiful place; it's an emotional experience that has found its way onto my canvas.

The people of Scotland had a way of making you feel seen and valued. That sense of generosity seemed to echo through the landscape itself. The mountains glowed with soft greens, blush pinks, and warm oranges. It felt as though the kindness I encountered in the people was reflected in every sweeping hillside and distant peak.

Everywhere we went, locals shared stories with enthusiasm and pride. I found myself imagining the histories hidden behind every doorway, glowing window, and winding path that now inspires the details, color choices, and sense of warmth I bring into my paintings.

As I paint Scotland, these scenes become more than a record of a place. They reflect human experience. The homes, streets, and landscapes serve as vessels for connection. Even when no people appear in the composition, their presence is felt through the details.

Travel inspires my art because it reminds me that every place has a heartbeat. That heartbeat comes from the people who live there, dream there, and leave their mark on the world. Through my paintings, I hope to capture not only a destination, but also the spirit that makes it memorable.
